The ERA Agro-Forestry seeks to improve access to rural areas through the rehabilitation and maintenance of around 90 km of priority rural roads in municipalities of Baucau, Viqueque and Manufahi, using Labour-based methods and trained local contractors.
This first batch of Era Forestry training programme will be held at Dom Bosco Training Centre, Comoro in Dili for the first 10 selected Contractor Companies from Municipality of Baucau. The training programme is aimed to provide the contractors with the required capacity to rehabilitate, repair and maintain the investments. This training will be carried out in collaboration with IADE and Don Bosco Training Center in Comoro. The ERA Agro-Forestry will liaise with the CCI-TL and their member associations with the aim of incorporating their capacity building requirements of the small contractors in the improvement of the training modules.
The involvement of CCI-TL and relevant associations in the ERA Agro-Forestry will be promoted in particular regarding the development of (pre-) qualification requirements of contractors for the works envisaged under the project. A number of companies will be invited to the training in several batches over the four years of the ERA Agro-Forestry. Class Room training will be carried out in Dili followed by practical training and successful companies will be eligible to bid for works as part of their trial contracts.
The training will be open to contractors from the target municipalities. The ERA Agro-Forestry will advertise the training opportunities and will target contractors through the CCI-TL network and municipalities. Companies will be requested to register on a registration form and submit their company profile through the CCI Municipal Offices.
The ERA Agro-Forestry is committed to promote female headed contractors to participate in the training. The project agreed with CCI-TL that at least 30% of the contractors participating in the training are members of the Women’s Business Association.
